Activities are the short, hands-on things that sit alongside the monuments — a few hours rather than a whole day. Travelers add them to a tour that is already booked, or take them on their own on a free afternoon. They are also the parts of a trip people tend to describe most vividly afterwards.

In Delhi that means eating your way through Chandni Chowk on a street food walk, or the evening musical fountain show at Akshardham. In Jaipur it means a hot air balloon over the Aravalli hills at sunrise, a leopard safari at Jhalana twenty minutes from the city center, or a morning at an elephant village where the animals are fed, bathed and painted rather than ridden up a fort ramp.

Not all activities are private, and we say which is which rather than letting you assume. The elephant village and the Jhalana leopard safari are private. The Old Delhi food walk, the Akshardham evening show and the hot air balloon are shared with other travelers — which is part of what keeps them affordable, and in the case of the food walk, part of what makes them enjoyable.

Most activities run two to four hours, so two can be fitted into a single day. If you are already booked on one of our tours, tell us and we will slot the activity into a day where it actually fits rather than selling you something that collides with your Taj Mahal morning.

Can I book an activity without booking a tour?

Yes. Every activity can be booked on its own, with pickup included where the product page says so.

Are activities private or shared?

It varies, and we state it on each page. The Elephant Village visit and the Jhalana leopard safari are private. The Old Delhi food walk, Akshardham evening show and hot air balloon ride are shared with other travelers.

Is the Old Delhi food walk safe for a sensitive stomach?

The stalls we use are ones we eat at ourselves and have used for years, and your guide will steer you away from anything that does not suit you. Tell us in advance if you are vegetarian, vegan, or avoiding particular ingredients.

What time does the hot air balloon fly?

At sunrise, because that is when the air is calm enough. Flights are weather dependent and the operator will cancel rather than fly in unsuitable conditions — if that happens you are refunded or rebooked.

Will I definitely see a leopard at Jhalana?

No, and anyone promising otherwise is selling you something. Jhalana has one of the highest leopard densities in India and sightings are common, but it is a wild reserve and nothing is guaranteed.
